By now, you’ve propbably seen hundreds of ads showing off companies’ corporate citizenship awards. But are these claims even accurate? Being a good corporate citizen is great and all, but does it have any direct impact on you as a consumer and a homeowner?
UHQ Construction, a top roof repair contractor in the state, further elaborates below.
Before we start, it’s good practice to check whether the organization ranking corporations is a trusted name or is at least transparent with the metrics used. The last thing any customer wants is to be misled by dubious advertisements.
Corporate Responsibility Magazine, for example, publishes a list of the 100 Best Corporate Citizens every year. It ranks companies based on seven factors, which include employee relations as well as the company’s impact on stakeholders and society.
The key factor to look at is employee relations. Arguably, a company’s treatment of its employees would extend to its customers, either directly or indirectly. Employees, after all, are the ones that directly interact with customers.
Beyond customer service, the state of a company’s relations with its employees also has an impact on the quality of the product. For example, while the vast majority of manufacturing processes for housing materials, like siding, have been automated, packaging and delivery is still handled by employees. Care must be taken so as to not damage the product, but if an overworked employee doesn’t care about the delivery, the quality of the product will be compromised.
If you’re a homeowner who’s planning to renovate your home, you’ll be glad to know that Owens Corning®, one of the biggest names in the home improvement industry, was included on this year’s 100 Best Corporate Citizens list for the fifth consecutive year.
